Leslieville
In recent years Leslieville has been one of those areas that was "up and coming." It truly lived up to the task, and as it has seen property values soar in recent years. Partly because of its close proximity to the downtown core, as well as the influx of businesses such as independant antique stores, cafes, restaurants, pubs & galleries etc, Lets not forget the fabulous houses that had long been overlooked by Toronto purchasers, who's only relationship with Leslieville was to pass through it on the way to the Beach directly to the east or to Riverdale directly north.
|
In the 1850's Leslieville sprouted up around the Toronto Nurseries owned by George Leslie. Its residents were either market gardeners, or employed by one of the brick companies also found in the area at the time.
Quaint, mature tree lined streets are abundant in Leslieville. In the recent past, Queen Street acted as a barrier and properties south of Queen were considered less desireable. While this is still true to a certain extent, some bargains have been had by savvy purchasers. You are also seeing an improvement on these streets as homes are being renovated, and curb appeal matching that of their northern neighbours.

Several film studios also call Leslieville home, and for those looking for investment properties Leslieville proved to be a safe bet renting to actors involved in the latest film project. Also of note Duplexes seem to be more common here than some other parts of town. Resales of these types of properties have done remarkably well, attracting those who either wanted a good income investment commanding good rents, or appealing to individuals who could otherwise probably not afford to buy into Leslieville without the added income.
On Carlaw Avenue, several Loft conversions are available such as The Printing Factory, The Wrigley Building, The Garment Factory, and I-Zone, as well as some new developments such as Flatiron now cutting ground at the corner of Carlaw and Dundas. Several of these buildings have Live/Work designation, making it the ideal purchase for artists, photographers and architects and recording studios etc.
Transport links. Reliant on the Queen Streetcar, the King car also comes down from Broadview Subway station and takes you into town, Right by the Gardiner, Lakeshore and moments to the DVP it all makes this location mega convenient for those reliant on their car.
